Designed by star architect and Brasilia-builder Oscar Niemeyer in 1974, this 6-storey casino hotel that will be refurbished in November 2006, offers a total of 373 rooms, including 337 double rooms and 36 suites. An impressive foyer awaits guests with a 24-hour reception desk, lifts, a safe and a currency exchange counter. The first-class facilities also include a café, shops, hairdressers, bars, a nightclub, a theatre room, the only casino in Madeira and a number of à la carte restaurants (non-smoking areas, air conditioning, highchairs for infants). The diverse assembly rooms in the conference centre as well as Internet access offer a number of options for business guests. In addition, there is a laundry service, room service, medical assistance as well as a kids' club and a playground on offer. Guests may additionally park their cars in the car park or the garage.
